This box has been carefully put together to help you and your dog enjoy some basics of food enrichment toys.
Using enrichment toys to feed your dog can help to alleviate boredom and decrease destructive behaviours such as digging, chewing, barking and escaping.
Licky Sticky Fish
Licking is a nice calm and soothing behaviour for dogs and helps to release all the happy chemicals in the brain.
Licking mats are great for dogs in stressful situations to help calm or soothe. When dogs are stressed typically it’s harder for them to sit down and concentrate on a puzzle toy but a Licking mat can often be an easier option for them.
Your Sticky Fish can be used to create positive associations with things like vet checks, brushing, grooming, nail trims, checking over for ticks or even just routine ear checks. Giving them something easy and yummy to do while you do this just makes sense doesn’t it!
Use your dog’s favorite smear-able or we also love Bone Broth or Tuna juice as a low calorie option and in summer you could freeze it or winter heat up your Bone Broth slightly for a yummy nutritional warm treat! This is also great for picky eaters or dogs who may be recovering from surgery.
This is another great tool to take with you to the hydrobath, vets, groomers, or to help engage your dog in a positive activity while you brush, check ears or check over for ticks.

Can Toy
This mighty little toy is a must have for every dog owner. Learning to use this tool is the first step, then keeping them interested and appropriately challenged is the next step.
The first step is to find your dog’s favourite smear-able treats.
You could offer a tasting plate using a chopping board or plate and have little smears of treats to choose from and see which ones get the best response.
Try little dollops of Ziwi Peak wet food, peanut butter- (xylitol free), vegemite, cream cheese, natural yoghurt,coconut oil, fish/ham paste or honey. Once you know your favourites smear a little on the outside and a little on the inside to get your dog’s interest. Once they are getting the hang of the toy and you are starting to pack it you can use your smear-able treat to line the toy before you stuff it.
Remember to increase the level of difficulty slowly giving your dog time to build their skills- Can Toys can be tricky little toys to pin down and each dog will develop their own style of using them.

Scream Xtreme Bone
This tough bone is such a versatile toy.
Smear it with something yummy like Peanut Butter, yoghurt, cream cheese, or vegemite to get them licking. We love that there is so many grooves to keep them interested.
Make it harder by adding some wet food into the toy- Phatso loves banana smooshed into it! A quick easy one is to drizzle some coconut oil over it and pop it in the freezer to set for a couple of mins…so much licky fun!
Experiment with different goodies and work up to partially freezing it too.
As with all new toys supervise when your dog first uses it so you can see how they interact with it and make sure they don’t get frustrated!
