Wicked Whiskers Welfare Box

Shelter life is stressful for any animal and studies have shown implementation of food enrichment toys help to engage the animals and reduce stress among the general population. This is particularly important for the cats as stress can cause them to break with Cat flu which may lengthen their time in care either in shelter or foster as they recover.

The Mouse Forager

The clever design of this mouse engages cats in play and stimulates your cats natural hunting instinct. The treats are in fact not so hard to get out of the toy. The fabric outer engages the claws on the mouse giving them the ability to throw it around rather than just a smooth plastic surface.

Cats are thinkers and you may see them engage and walk away and re-engage. They assess the situation and go back and test it then come away and think about it again. My cat did a lot of purring and swishing and rubbing against me when she was working it out so be patient and pat or stroke them as they learn the game.

Once your cat has the hang of this you can start to put it in different places for it to find. The idea is to get them hunting which switches on the seeking system in the brain. This has a truck load of benefits for our cat’s emotional well being.

Once your cat is loving this then you also have the option to buy the Mouse Foragers set. What fun to set your cat’s mice up with their food for the day hidden around the house for them to find while you are at work!

Rubber Turtle Forager

This cool little toy is great for kibble or even holding bigger treats like chicken breast chews. Spend some time wobbling it around and showing your cat where the treats come out. If they have mastered the mouse forager chances are they will jump straight into this one.

The rubber design makes it easy to clean and disinfect - perfect for shelter life.

Licky Sticky Fish

This Sticky Fish is such a great little tool.

Instead of using a food bowl use your sticky fish to encourage licking. This fish has a large surface area and has a couple of different surfaces to smear onto. Licking is a self soothing behaviour for cats- just look at how much time they spend grooming themselves!!

This Fish can also be used on a wall with their favourite yummy smeared on it. This can be quite useful if your cat has cat flu and putting their heads forward to eat when they are all stuffed up often discourages them from eating. So by popping this on a wall it keeps the head raised while they eat.

This can also be a useful tool to help keep your cat busy while you brush them or need to do any handling with them.

Kong Active Treat Ball

We love this simple little toy.

Its design makes it easy for the cats to use and the treats fall out quite easily once moved.

It’s size makes it a great choice for a condo and the hard plastic makes it easy to clean and disinfect.

We love that this toy is light and easy to move around.

Start easy by putting treats in both chambers so your kitty gets some wins straight up.This keeps interest high.

Again take some time to move it around and show your cat how to use it.
